Archaeological Reserve ‘Hanging Hill’ Barrow Cemetery from the 9th to the 11th century.
The barrow burial ground on Vistula Hill is one of the oldest early medieval necropolises in Western Pomerania. It is a unique, still well-preserved archaeological site, which in the early Middle Ages contributed to the extensive settlement complex of Wolin. The name ‘Wzgórze Wisielców’ is connected with the execution of pirates and criminals taking place here. At the end of the 19th century, 93 barrows were counted on the hill, of which 34 graves remain.
