The Traumas of War exhibition, organized on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, refers to the experience of war as one of the most traumatizing existential experiences. The juxtaposition of period objects: militaria, objects of everyday life, documents and archival materials with contemporary works of art can inspire reflection on whether and what feelings the subject of World War II evokes today, as well as how the phenomena associated with it are processed by contemporary artists, current sensibilities, aesthetics and means of expression. The ongoing armed conflict beyond Poland's eastern border makes the subject of war worryingly close and topical again today. In this context, the Traumas of War exhibition, while referring to the not-so-distant past, is at the same time a universal story about the mechanisms of war and its destructive power. The exhibition features the collections of two branches of the National Museum in Szczecin - the Breakthroughs Dialogue Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as works from the collection of the Association Zachęta Contemporary Art in Szczecin. Among them will be unique memorabilia from family archives and the archives of Polish and foreign institutions, as well as works by renowned Polish artists.
